One Custom Domain Per Creator

LinkHaven follows a simple rule: each creator can have one custom domain at a time. This keeps URLs predictable and prevents accidental data overwrites — but it does mean you'll occasionally need to disconnect a creator before you can connect them to a new domain.

What You'll See if a Creator Is Already on a Domain

When you try to buy, import, or reuse a domain and pick a creator who's already on a different one, the dashboard will tell you and won't let you proceed. The creator picker shows which domain that creator is currently on.

How to Switch a Creator to a Different Domain

  1. Open the creator's edit page — From the dashboard, find the creator and click Edit.
  2. Find the Custom Domain section — It's usually toward the bottom of the page.
  3. Toggle Custom Domain off — This disconnects the creator from their current domain. The domain stays in your account; only the creator's connection to it is removed.
  4. Save the change.

Now the creator is free. You can buy, import, or reuse a domain for them.

What Happens to the Old Domain

The domain itself stays in your dashboard, just without that creator attached. You can:

  • Connect it to a different creator — using the Share a Domain option (to put another creator on it via a path) or by re-attaching during buy
  • Delete it — if it's a domain you bought through LinkHaven and you no longer want to keep it

One Important Exception

If you want multiple creators to share one domain (like yourdomain.com for one creator and yourdomain.com/creator-two for another), the rule still holds — each creator has one domain — but they're sharing the same parent domain through different paths. Quick Troubleshooting

  • "This creator is already on a domain" message in the picker — disconnect first, as described above
  • Server error when trying to attach a creator — same root cause; the creator is already attached somewhere else
