How Domain Pricing Works
What You Pay for a Custom Domain
When you buy a custom domain through LinkHaven, the price you see at checkout includes everything needed to keep it running — registration, technical setup, privacy protection, and ongoing maintenance. Here's how the pricing breaks down.
Intro Price vs Renewal Price
Many domain extensions offer a first-year intro price that's lower than the renewal price. This is standard across the domain industry — the intro reflects the new-customer discount, and the renewal reflects the long-term cost of keeping the domain.
When the two prices differ, both are shown on the buy screen before you check out. The intro applies once (your first year); subsequent years use the renewal price. No hidden surprises at renewal time.
What's Included
Every domain you buy through LinkHaven includes:
- Registration for the period you select
- WHOIS privacy — your personal contact information stays hidden from public lookups
- DNS management — all the records needed to point your domain at your LinkHaven page, configured automatically
- HTTPS / SSL — secure connection by default, no separate certificate to buy
- Auto-renew (optional, on by default) — keep your domain from expiring without you
Renewals
When auto-renew is on, your domain renews automatically before its expiration date — you don't need to do anything, and the renewal price you see on your domain card is what applies. See Auto-Renew: What It Does and How to Manage It for how to manage the toggle.
Imported Domains Don't Cost Anything Extra
If you import a domain you already own (instead of buying through us), you don't pay LinkHaven anything for the domain — you keep paying your existing registrar directly. There's no LinkHaven fee for using an imported domain.
Premium Domains
Some domains — short names, sought-after extensions, or names with high market value — are priced significantly higher than standard. The buy screen always shows the actual price for the specific domain you've searched, so you'll never be surprised at checkout.
Refunds
Domain registrations generally aren't refundable — once a domain is registered, it's registered for the period you paid for. If you have a billing question or a refund request, contact support and we'll work with you on the specifics.
What's Not Included
Your LinkHaven plan subscription is separate from domain charges. The domain price covers the domain itself; your monthly or annual LinkHaven plan is a separate line item.
