How to Import a Domain from Namecheap, Google Domains, or Other Registrars

Connecting from Any Registrar

Wherever you bought your domain, the process is the same: LinkHaven gives you two nameservers, and you set them at your registrar. That single change hands DNS to LinkHaven — SSL, www, and your bare domain are configured automatically. No CNAME or TXT records needed.

General Steps

  1. Start in LinkHaven — Click Import a Domain, type your domain, click Connect domain, and copy the two nameservers shown.
  2. Open your registrar's nameserver settings — usually called Nameservers, Custom DNS, or Use custom nameservers.
  3. Replace the existing nameservers with LinkHaven's two, removing any others. Save.
  4. Wait — your LinkHaven dashboard shows Pending connection, then Connected — your site is live (usually 5 minutes to 1 hour, rarely up to 48 hours).

Where to Find Nameserver Settings (Common Registrars)

  • Namecheap — Domain List → Manage → Nameservers → Custom DNS
  • Squarespace Domains — Domains → your domain → DNS → Use custom nameservers
  • Porkbun — Domain Management → Details → Nameservers → Edit
  • Hover — Your domain → Edit nameservers
  • NameSilo — Manage My Domains → select domain → Change Nameservers

If your registrar isn't listed, search its help for "change nameservers."

Registered with Cloudflare?

Cloudflare-registered domains can't change nameservers — and don't need to. LinkHaven detects this automatically and gives you a short list of DNS records to add in your Cloudflare DNS instead (set the two CNAME records to DNS only / grey cloud). See How to Import a Domain You Already Own for details.

Common Questions

  • Do I need to delete my old DNS records? No. Once the nameservers switch, records at your old DNS provider are simply ignored.
  • Will my domain email break? If you have email (MX records) on this domain through your registrar's DNS, contact support before switching nameservers so we can carry your email records over.
  • My registrar won't let me change nameservers. Use the "Can't change your nameservers?" link in the LinkHaven connect window to switch to the DNS-records method.
