Connect LinkHaven to your AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Codex)

Run LinkHaven From the AI Tools You Already Use

You can run your LinkHaven account from the AI tools you already use. Ask in plain English, like "Which of my pages got the most visits this week?" or "Add my new shop link to my main page", and your AI looks it up or makes the change.

There are two ways to connect: the MCP connector and the API. This article explains both, which one fits your tool, and how to connect.

Which one do I need?

  • The Claude or ChatGPT app (web, desktop or phone): use the MCP connector.
  • Claude Code or Codex on your computer, or your own scripts: use the API.

You can use both on the same account.

What is MCP?

MCP is the standard way AI apps connect to other services. LinkHaven's MCP connector lets the regular Claude or ChatGPT app work with your account. There's no key to handle: you sign in to LinkHaven and choose what the app may do.

What is the API?

An API lets software talk to LinkHaven directly. You create a key, which works like a password for software, and give it to your AI coding tool. The API can do everything you can do in your dashboard, including uploads and automations, and it works from your own scripts too.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT (MCP)

  1. In your LinkHaven dashboard, open the API & MCP screen and copy the address on the MCP card. It's the same for every app:

https://linkhaven.ai/mcp

  1. Add it as a custom connector in Claude, or as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT. The MCP card has the exact clicks for each app.
  2. Sign in to LinkHaven when asked, and choose what it can do.

Claude works in the web, desktop and phone apps (you add it on the web or desktop app). ChatGPT works with ChatGPT Plus; on other plans it depends on your plan and workspace settings. Any other AI app that supports MCP connectors with sign-in can use the same address.

Apps we haven't tested show an "Unverified app" notice on the permission screen, with the web address you'll be sent back to. Only allow it if you started the connection yourself and you recognise that address.

Want to change what it can do? Disconnect it on the API & MCP screen, connect again and tick different boxes, then start a new chat. A chat that was already open keeps the old list of what it can do.

Connect Claude Code or Codex (API)

  1. On the API & MCP screen, copy the setup prompt on the API card and paste it into Claude Code or Codex.
  2. Create a key and tick only what the job needs.
  3. On the key screen, click Copy, then type "copied" in your AI tool. It saves the key to a file on your computer, so it never appears in the chat.

The API doesn't work in the regular Claude or ChatGPT chat, because those apps can't read your clipboard or store a key safely. Use MCP there.

How they're different

  • Where you use it. API: Claude Code or Codex on your computer, or your own scripts. MCP: the regular Claude app, or ChatGPT (depends on your plan).
  • How it signs in. API: a key you create on the API & MCP screen, saved to a file on your computer. MCP: your LinkHaven login, through Claude or ChatGPT. No key to store.
  • Runs on its own. API: yes, from your own scripts and automations. MCP: when you ask it in a chat.
  • What it can do. API: everything, including uploads, team and AI avatars. MCP: your pages, links, appearance, blocking settings and visitor numbers, and it can show your domains and duplicate a page.

What MCP can't do yet: create or delete a whole page, connect or change a domain, upload photos or videos, make AI avatars, manage your team or show your billing. Do those in your dashboard or through the API.

Is it safe?

  • You choose what it can do. Permanent deletion is off unless you tick it.
  • It acts as you, and no more than you. It can't see anyone else's account.
  • It can never buy anything. Plans, domains, credits and seats need your card, in the dashboard.
  • Your AI app receives whatever it reads from your account to answer you, and the company behind it handles that under its own privacy terms.
  • Switch either one off any time on the API & MCP screen: Disconnect an app or Revoke a key. It stops working right away.
  • Removing LinkHaven inside an AI app may not switch it off on LinkHaven. To be sure it's off, also click Disconnect on the API & MCP screen.
